In Luke chapter 4, Jesus is recorded being tempted by the devil in the wilderness,
“And Jesus being full of the Holy Ghost returned from Jordan, and was led by the Spirit into the wilderness, being forty days tempted of the devil.” – Luke 4:1-2, KJV
Now Jesus had just been baptized in the Jordan River by John the Baptist, and immediately after, was led by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted.
“And the Holy Ghost descended in a bodily shape like a dove upon him, and a voice came from heaven, which said, thou art my beloved Son; in thee I am well pleased.” – Luke 3:22, KJV
Now you may be asking, why was Jesus led by the Spirit into the wilderness after being baptized?
When you accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and savior, God himself will lead you into that which is foreign to you.
The Spirit led Jesus into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil, not to harm him or take him off track, but to teach and prepare him for the way.
Know that God is allowing you to go through what you are going through, not to break you, but to test you and prove you worthy of that which is waiting for you on the other side.
The Spirit of the living God is upon us all, and we must not grow weary in the middle of God’s testing. Know that if the Spirit of the Lord led you there, that it is for your good, because God works all things together for those who love him and for those who are called according to his purpose.
Know that if God is testing you, that you are already crowned royalty, and that what you are waiting for is on the other side of what you are going through. Know that you have already been chosen – not to fail – but to succeed.
God had already declared Jesus as his son before he was led into the wilderness.
So what does this mean for you and I?
That God has already prepared you for what he is going to take you through. Rest assured in his presence and in the knowledge of Christ that he already gave to you.
For we know that in Christ Jesus, “all things are possible.”
In Luke 4:14, Jesus returned in the power of the Spirit after he passed the test,
“And Jesus returned in the power of the Spirit into Galilee.” Luke 4:14, KJV
God wants you to return in the power of the Holy Spirit.
Get through that temptation; get through that test. There is power on the other side of what you’re going through.
God bless you.
